Topology-Aware Volume Provisioning is critical for running stateful workloads in multi-zonal clusters. This was an effort that was started almost two years ago, and I'm so excited that users can finally take advantage of it.

Kubernetes users are now empowered to incorporate snapshot operations in a cluster agnostic way into their tooling and policy. Developers can use these Kubernetes snapshot primitives as basic building blocks to develop advanced, enterprise grade, storage administration features.

Kubernetes Storage SIG is going to work on a number of items this quarter. Our biggest goal for v1.13 is to move the Container Storage Interface (CSI) to 1.0 and the k8s implementation of CSI to GA.

That would be definitely be valuable. We certainly had a couple of items that require cross-SIG cooperation, and having a process for it would help.

Local Storage is a special case where Kubernetes actually acts as the storage provider. We definitely should support encryption for Local Storage ( for plans). But it should be at the storage system level, not something that Kubernetes needs to be aware of or manage.

Leaving encryption as a storage feature enabled/disabled via StorageClass and secrets has worked nicely for us. I'm not convinced it needs to be pulled in to the Kubernetes layer.
