The spectacular irony of watching a brilliantly funny and gut-piercing show about what it means to be a good parent and missing bedtime in order to watch it.

PROFESSIONAL ACTORS WITH CHILDREN the Actors' Children's Trust might be able to help with your job related childcare, or your child's music lessons, therapies, clubs, school trips etc. It really is worth getting in touch to see if you're eligible. 😊

All shows (apart from maybe Phantom) come to an end so I should be used to it but when ends tonight, it takes a little part of me with it. It has been the most wonderful experience with the most wonderful company any director could hope for. Thank you, world.

Directing as a single parent is so rewarding and so hard. If anyone wants to talk about how to do it, survival strategies, or just needs a supportive and productive ear, DM me. The struggle is real but the love is real too

Today is small girl’s induction session for the school nursery class she starts in September. I‘d already committed to auditions in Cardiff before we knew the date. It’s not so much missing today that haunts me, it’s the Ghost of Missed Moments Yet To Come.

Me: I need to go and catch the train now. But I’ll be home for tea tomorrow. Small girl: I don’t want you to go away. Me: Why? Small girl: Because I don’t want you to go away. Inarguable logic.

I hate chivvying. They should be playing. They should be exploring and dawdling and giggling and picking up all the things. But how do I walk into a meeting and start with “Sorry I’m late. Small people just really needed to play hide and seek on the way to the car.”?

Just had two indescribably joyous weeks away with the kids. Back to reality - up and out today for the early train - and the knowledge that I won’t be back for bedtime tonight makes me want to weep.
