What's as dangerous (more dangerous?) than out-and-out climate change 'scepticism'? Insidious and deceptive discourses of climate delay👇👇👇

6... To understand objectivity’s true meaning, think of transparency of method and discipline of verification. Objectivity is not neutrality or disinterestedness. Those notions invite unconscious bias--the very problem the objective method or process was meant to combat. 6 of 22

I've always felt we're too clever and not clever enough. Less smart and we wouldn't have got ourselves into this mess, smarter still and we would have made sure we solved it. Sadly often feels we're stuck in the middle.

Ha! Something that occurs to me quite often. Psychology is cheap and anyone can use it if they feel like it, so it seems. "People will/won't... [insert own view here]"

Coal mine licence rejected in Wales because of environmental and climate impacts. Kudos to This needs to become normal around the world - esp rich countries - until such time as no more applications even get submitted.

Sadly, yes, the immediate window closing with far too little opportunity taken. If only the UK had done more than put some cones out. But the much bigger question is recovery, building back. Every chance that'll be messed up too but let's do what we can to push in right direction

So, notwithstanding the many nuanced perspectives on this, it would seem that too many people are acquiring too much stuff 🤑

If I was answering for real, I'd prob still select SA. Being absolutely literal, I'd have to go for D/K but I think I get what they mean (ie we're consuming too much and that's bad)

And if they were filled with those statues we would never ever be able to take them down until the end of time because it would be 'erasing history'. Maybe we could just change the plaque a bit? 🙄

'would have died soon anyway' is a revolting and callous thing to say in pretty much any context.

Statues and other memorials aren't history, they're a sign of what and who we choose to draw attention to - or at least should be. For any standing today, we might ask: if it wasn't there already, would we want to put it there as a mark of respect or celebration?
