If you missed last week's , had a pretty interesting scoop that he'd been sitting on re mouse support coming to iPad as an accessibility feature. As far as I'm aware, that *is* indeed in the works. I feel like every pro user will turn that on, day one 😂

with UIKit adopting all kinds of API for mouse support for the Mac, it makes a ton of sense to let that be leveraged on iPad too if somebody has a mouse connected. Not changing the OS for anybody using touch, but adding functionality for those who choose, or need it

I think my main concern with this: Will developers (or even Apple) create mouse-first UI? Ultimately, my iPad is my portable device. It’s rarely something I use at a desk. I’d like to keep it that way.

Mouse/trackpad support on iPad is a band-aid that needs to be ripped off so that we can move on, just like for the stylus — which is now one of the most important iPad accessories

What do you think an iPad cursor would look like?

Probably like the one on macOS. Just a guess. 🙂

good question. It's still an OS designed for touch so perhaps a small circle or dot rather than a pointer

I really hope they do this, and I really Jony Ive hates it because fuck him, he needs to go.

mouse is mouse, I don't think they'd limit it to USB. It needs to support the Magic Trackpad at the very least

Ditto. If you use the keyboard a lot it makes sense to have a pointing device right where your hands are, having to constantly raise your hand to touch the display can be tiresome

Is there any reason it wouldn’t work with Bluetooth? (Viticci kept referring to usb mouse)

I said recently that mouse support was a very interesting thing that should come to iOS ... and eventually to an ARM based Mac running iOS...
