Because the libraries they want to progress aren’t new. NEXTSTEP worked like that because its older libraries (libNeXT_s, libMedia_s) were installed alongside the OPENSTEP .frameworks. Not so for e.g. Carbon which is intertwined with other pieces of the OS

I have it on pretty good authority that AppleScript was not a sure thing for OS X. The publishing industry relied on it so much that they had to bring it over to get people to move over. It also kept people from switching to Windows NT.

The iOS and the macOS versions now share the same code base. This makes it much easier for me to maintain and add new features. Sorry it took me so long, I hope it was worth the wait.

In a world in which everything leaks, eventually, it's kinda sad that the early Intel versions of Mac OS X (10.0–10.3) (Marklar) never made it to the wild. As far as I'm aware, they did make it outside of Apple, but I guess it stopped there. Would have been fascinating to see 😔

I've just added the CERN sticker to my NeXT Computer mini replica build documentation. I added the actual sticker a while ago for maximum authenticity, but I'll stop short of weathering the case I think!

not your app, but their frameworks; keeping something around like that handcuffs them in the changes they can make. But yes
