This options button in the share sheet!! Please tell me there is an API for this! This is the solution to a problem I’ve been struggling with for years. I had given up hope when the sheet was redesigned without any sign of this. Please give it to me

Unification is a big deal; it’ll improve both iPad and Mac immensely. New Mac apps are just the tip

Now that’s interesting. So they tried, and failed

Depends. The iOS version of the app may just be better, with features you never bothered bringing to the Mac. Reducing your workload to one app from two means you can make one really great thing instead of two lesser things. Plus making app better for Mac improves the iPad too

SwiftUI will excel when it doesn’t need to bridge to the existing UI frameworks; right now, it has to bootstrap off a UIKit app delegate/view controller just to put something onscreen. Very early days

Integrating with existing UI is a nightmare, but at a very basic level it walls you off from rudimentary, fundamental things you want to do with your view controllers and their properties, and half of its core controls currently only work on certain platforms

Part of the ‘high velocity’ thing is figuring out how best to allocate your limited resources; meatspace is finite 😆

(Not a knock on SwiftUI; I think it’s very cool, but also not ready for me to build the things I want to build, and I don’t want to jump in super early and get badly burned like I did with Swift. I’ll pay more attention in a couple years when you can build full apps with it)

To be fair, I would not have had the bandwidth to do a fraction of this stuff if I was trying to build things with SwiftUI right now. Mostly-ignoring SwiftUI at WWDC left me a lot of room to pay closer attention to all the other great things going on this year

I was described by as “high velocity” 😂 I really like that, but when you average me out over the year it isn’t so high at all…

My June so far: • Rebuilt an app around PencilKit • ‘Ported’ Shortcuts to Catalyst • Performed Catalyst bringup on five apps • Built a new PencilKit app from scratch • Started building another PencilKit app • ‘Ported’ Messages to Catalyst …how is your post-WWDC going? 😅

Working on Catalyst version of Knil. As macOS 10.15 supports Universal Links.

I mean, it's so broken right now in Home it's hard to imagine this was given any special attention for Mac, but maybe if there's a redesign coming…

and finally (after several more ill-fated attempts, sigh) merged to 5.1. Swift object deallocation on Catalina/iOS 13/equivalent OSs is now ~twice as fast in most cases :)

I just discovered the (very-broken) Shortcuts UI in the Home app on macOS 😅 It lives! Kinda!

before beta 2, you could not submit to TestFlight. It's supposed to be open now, but was broken all day

haven't had any replies, but the app I submitted this morning was rejected instantly, and now second time round it's gone through into 'waiting for App Review'

TestFlight external testing submissions for iOS 13 seem to be working now? Maybe the servers are finally ready for it
