Nothing says "union members deserve respect" like faking sick so you can protest the government.

Congestion pricing is needed for entrances to the Peninsula. And I say this as someone coming from Bedford in the mornig

It's a chicken and egg problem /w transit, and congestion tolls would increase demand for transit

Personally I would pay $50/mo to save 30min/day in traffic. Would allow people to live where they want to w/o worrying about traffic

The problem is phenomenon of "induced demand". More road capacity, more demand. Unused capacity fills up almost immediately.

Hey, it's all about tradeoffs and I think the one I'm proposing is much better than the status quo. NYC, London, Stockholm do it.

The tolls are clearly not high enough during peak hours. Double the toll during rush hour and the traffic will be much faster

You can always make more money but you can never earn more time in life. Better to pay for road use /w money than sitting in traffic

Transit in Halifax needs a critical mass of people who will use it. Congestion tolls will add to that demand, which will help

It's not a tax, it's a usage fee. There is a big difference And it would go away when there is no traffic! We need to manage demand.

Look at the Bedford Highway. Backed up all the way from the Peninsula to Bedford. And the bridges, roundabout and 102 are not much better.

People often see tolls as a "cash grab", but how much is your time worth? Wouldn't you pay a dollar to save 15 minutes every day in traffic?

I left at 7am. I didn't think that would still be rush hour but traffic was backed up to inside Larry Uteck.

Start the tolls at 50¢ to enter the Peninsula during rush hour and increase them every month until traffic flows smoothly.

We can implement the study that was done on congestion pricing for Halifax with tolls to enter the Peninsula during peak hours.

It's really only during morning and afternoon rush that it's a problem but it is still a waste of everyone's time. And it's solvable.

It took me 50 minutes to get from Larry Uteck to downtown this morning. Traffic in Halifax is crazy. We need a new approach to congestion.
