A friend asked me to defend technology in two tweets. Curious for critiques, or your own version. Here's mine: Society survives or dies based on its ability to sustainably grow the pie. Without a growing pie, there’s a winner for every loser, and we engage in zero sum conflict.

I recently binge-read more than half of blog posts by Aaron Swartz () and I think he was one of the few deep thinkers of our time. I'd definitely recommend checking out his posts, especially Theory of Change ().

This video purports to be from one of the new hospitals China has built in Wuhan for coronavirus patients. If real, gives a sense of the severity. One way doors, food via a tray, probably negative pressure like a BSL-4. A maximum security prison for containment of this disease.

I feel like a lot of US citizens don’t quite get how hard it is to get an immigrant visa even if you are super qualified—many friends/family have struggled w the H1-B lottery or spent months applying for an O1 or got denied entry even though they have MIT degrees/great jobs/etc
