I think it's worth including that Cranogwen was likely a lesbian. She won the 1865 National Eisteddfod with 'Y Fodrwy Briodasol' (The Wedding Ring) which was critical of marriage and expectations on women to marry. Her poetry was also TO other women e.g. life partner Jane Thomas.
