I re-watched The Simpsons and charted its decline. (Based on my episode ratings out of 10).

Hey, if you guys like year-old-Tweets, then you’ll love comedy-film podcast, Diminishing Returns, where my co-host and I pitch sequels to movies.

Yes, but if you can guess what’s coming after Predator, I’ll be impressed.

That'd require all 20+ episodes to be a 10/10. The numbers are based on season averages from individual episode ratings.

Well if that’s the case then if it’s ok, I have a few episodes I want to hear your ratings for. Behind the Laughter, HOMR, Trilogy of Error, Half-Decent Proposal, I Am Furious (Yellow) and Moe Baby Blues. These are good episodes from past the golden age.

Behind the Laughter - 7/10 (good fun and a nice change of pace, if lacking in plot)

HOMR - 7/10 (a nice plot with solid emotional backbone - though one that wreaks havoc with series continuity and undermines other elements of the show. Humour gets a bit cartoony at times but generally good)

Trilogy of Error - 8/10 (I would point to this as the swan song of the show when it was legitimately brilliant) Half-Decent Proposal - 5/10 (weak) I am Furious Yellow - 5/10 (a decent premise but filled with weak humour and one that, once again, causes continuity issues)

More Baby Blues - 5/10 (a surprisingly emotionally grounded episode for this point in the series but also a pretty stupid plot, frankly, and just not particularly funny)

Skinner is an imposter with a rating of 8? You've had too much tomacco.

Well, that's the average episode rating for that season -I tried plotting individual episodes first but the chart was completely unreadable.

But I'll stand by that episode as being good TV - only bad by the standards of classic Simpsons. The show's been genuinely bad for a decade.

Don't you think it's insulting TV? It's insulting to the viewer. I think it's bad TV.
