I felt very fortunate to present and participate in the conversations being had in the this evening. Definitely got the gears turning in my rusty brain!

Self-referral seems to be required where I am, but sometimes we are at least able to make the call and put them on the phone. It alleviates part of the burden but not enough of it. And that’s if there are even beds available.

I was, in fact, repeatedly warned by professionals not to wear them while swimming. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sebastian is the same. Can’t get into contacts. I’ve been wearing them for twenty years and love them. Just switched to dailies during PGY5 and it’s only gotten better! But even I have to admit that swimming with contacts probably isn’t actually a great idea.

Outdoors, I find a wool buff pulled up around my nose and mouth humidifies the air and helps mitigate bronchospasm. I find a slow warmup can help as well. YMMV, as I’m not really asthmatic, more just the ‘wheezing with URTI or cold air’ sort.

He’s such a genuine and lovely dude! He looked thrilled today when I told him he’s a celebrity.

Wow, I’m horrified! I’m quite sure this was NOT protocol when I defended in 2010! The IMS should be ashamed for even suggesting this.

EKG because I think that’s consistent with the original German and I’m a smarmy little so-and-so. But seriously, EKG.

Despite my many years of swimming, it has never occurred to me to get prescription goggles. I just wear my contacts! Occasionally, I have lost one during a competition, which was devastating.

Am? Pm? It’s all really just a social construction anyway...

Ugh, the number of times I showed up to a rotation as a tired medical student or resident only to discover that it was a personal day, a vacation day, a conference day, or there was some other reason I could have slept another couple of much-needed hours...

While I'm impressed by the spreadsheets, I feel that it's my duty to let you all know that wearing black on black at all times completely eliminates this problem. (I mean, I do sometimes wear white or navy...)

That’s a nice way to do it. I have also used ‘we always do these exams together’.

Agreed. I mean, it feels like I’m implicitly undermining my own ‘virtue’ or something. But I want to protect the patient and I want to protect myself...

YES PLEASE! Also, it feels weird that I’m always asked if my husband is Greek. No, fam, that whole damned thing is my hugely long double barrelled name, some of us have ‘em.

I’m so confused about how to introduce that person! I usually say ‘this is my colleague, [insert name here], who is here to help me out’ but it’s awkward...and I always worry they think I’m under enforced supervision!
