D Kahneman is savage (on investing confidence) "one exec I dined with...told me, with a trace of defensiveness, “I have done v well for the firm, and no one can take that away from me.” I thought, privately: Well, I took it away from you this morning."

I'm happy to share that my paper is finally out, showing that the effect of TMS in brain activity depends on the connectivity profile of the target region and proposing an imaging marker to predict its effect

Predictive Routing: "There are no special error-detection circuits or mechanisms." There are instead pathways that are gated by predictions and thus can be activated by unexpected inputs. Amazing monkey electrophysiology work by Andre Bastos

There are (at least) two ways to reduce fear memories: - extinction (stim no longer signals punishment) - overexpectation (stim A = fear, B = fear, but learn A+B is not EVEN WORSE) overexpectation uses OFC, extinction uses IL

Awesome to have this collaborative effort from the out, with , in . In it, we asked if the PE exhibited by DA at cue onset is just an error, or if it also carries the upcoming prediction. 1/n Thread below 👇

Got a new paper out in (w/ ) showing that algorithmically optimizing associative learning experiments may substantially increase inference accuracy. Similar approach could be used in other learning/decision making exp. paradigms.
