Two Canadian women, who went to Somaliland to help persecuted women, were sentenced to 40 lashes after being accused of drinking alcohol in a private home. (No alcohol was found.) They’re still in jail, 3 months later, as prosecutors seek harsher penalty.

Hi Husam.. MS .. hmm. Didn't hear that one. But it wasn't a secret that certain members of his family quite disliked me, especially my book where I write about the family history. Not an issue when you're reporting on a case though. Interesting thread here -- glad I found it.

Well-known activist Ali Othman has died in Syrian government custody, according to . Othman documented the punishing siege of Baba Amr, including the death of Marie Colvin & Remi Ochlik. He also helped evacuate wounded journalists, saving their life in the process.

No one wants to talk about the "ISIS children" (an unfair label). These are babies. Leaving them here is inhumane & continues the cycle. As writes, "With victory, comes responsibility. The West isn’t doing enough for these kids. They don’t belong in Syria."
