As several people in this thread have already pointed out, science does not say that colors are not in the world. This idea is a profoundly metaphysical idea and a fateful error which is the root of both illusionism and panpsychism.

Its almost Hegel. But not quite. I've always felt like pragmatism was sort of like Newtonian mechanics. They're both undeniably true in a certain sense, but you have to move beyond them while retaining their essential contributions.
