2/ If I was doing OSS in my free time, I would not work on kubernetes. Maybe gnu radio or some RFIID stuff, or the minitel driver ...Sadly I don't have time for any of those

1/ I work on OSS because I like to share, collaborate and I like tech. I try to contribute back as much as I can but I also need to make money. So for instance I don't do free trainings

I agree with some of what you imply. Especially the barrier of entry, and toxicity. I am also saddened by the rock start status that is evolving...but let's get it straight enterprise OSS is happening because people are all paid for it as day jobs.

OSS is not free as in "free beer", that's a dream. It is freedom of choice. But many people want to use OSS to avoid license costs and see it as "free" beer, the engineers are then working *with* free software on paid time. So cut the "want to be paid to work on OSS"...

5/ So you should ask to be paid to contribute back, and refuse to work for enterprise that get a free ride on the top of OSS communities

4/ When I see that you don't fix readmes/docs or bugs upstream but have them fixed internally I get pissed.

3/ you have to give to receive. If you don't give back , you are getting a free ride on our back and that is not cool at all.

2/ question should be "want to get paid to participate and contribute to OSS community ?" I see to many enterprises that consume OSS for "free" and don't contribute back.

1/ I don't get that question anymore: "Want to get paid to work on OSS ? join us..." as if the response could be "no I only one to work on it for free" or "no I prefer to work exclusively on closed source"
