I looked into this a little, and it appears this was nothing more than an ump completely overreacting to a player dragging his bat in the dirt. Embarrassing.

on the 1st day of college baseball. Michigan’s Jimmy Obertop touches the end of his bat to the dirt after a 2nd strike was called clearly off the plate. The home plate umpire ejects him, no warning. Another batter has to come in facing an 0-2 count.
