There are gender identities that are tied to ethnicity (Two-Spirit people of Native American/First Nation tribes, the Hijra of South Asia, the Sworn Virgins of the Balkans/Albania, the Fa’afafine of Samoa, the Māhū of Hawaii, the Muxe of Mexico, & more).
