For years demos of hand tracking required special sensors or gloves to make work. Our FRL team advanced the field of computer vision to make it work "out of the box" on the $299 Oculus Quest 2. They continue to push the limits - check it out here

You’ve probably seen the voter registration prompts in your Facebook apps. They’ve produced an incredible result: With our help, an estimated 4.4 million people have registered to vote

5,760x reduction in training data needed to achieve similar results of state of the art systems from just 1 year ago. Or 960 hours to 10 minutes. Or train on the larger dataset for better results. AI is often overhyped but this is a truly impressive result.

Pretty excited about the possibilities here. AR glasses can be the delivery vehicle for all sorts of AI powered enhancements. Helping anyone who has hearing loss, or just has trouble understanding people at a party would be amazing.

Universal translation would be truly world changing, in so many ways. We're not quite there yet, but I think people underestimate just how much progress has been made lately:

If the wireless charging maxes at 15W v.s. 20W for corded that accounts for about 1/2 of this delta in time. The other must be loss in efficiency? Not that excited about a double-digit loss in efficiency for charing billions of devices from a sustainability standpoint.

This was a fun talk thanks for having me. I love this quote as it sums up my worldview. Let's not lose our optimism of the real promise of tech, but do it responsibly.

not much in life improves 5x in 1 year (that's after working on it for years). We haven't even gotten all of our latest ideas into production yet.

Correction - it's 5x in 1 year: Q2 2019 -> Q2 2020 (4.4M -> 22.5M). Overall proactive rate is up from ~24% in 2017 to 94.5% in 2020. This is why I'm optimistic.

Kindle is a better book. I love mine but it’s not a fundamentally different experience. I’ve had experiences in VR for which there is no comparable on any other device

Tried the Oculus Quest 2 for the first time last night. This was my first Oculus experience in general, but can’t believe how easy it was to use and how good it felt. Need to pick up some games for this thing ASAP.
