A year or so ago, it dawned on me that the more interesting the work is, the less estimable and automatable it is. I know that's a simple thought, but I still think it's meaningful.

The *only* metric that matters is 'defect per work item' (notably *not* per LoC). The others (e.g., test coverage) are proxies for that based on an almost overwhelming number of implicit assumptions about how best to achieve minimization of that first metric.

Yeah, which is why you can't (safely) go outside; the 'low information' citizen is still going by the (mis)information that if you're under 65 and healthy (predominant demo in Hoboken) you've got no worries.

Sure, but for me there's a world of difference between "I'm dying to go outside" and "I'm willing to die to go outside" :-/

The problem is not people being uneducated. The problem is that people are educated just enough to believe what they have been taught, and not educated enough to question anything from what they have been taught. 🧠

Honestly, in today's day there's no excuse for mail clients not having this setting be ON by default with a pop-up dialog when you hit SEND offering "this is ON, do you want to override?" In 2020 we can facial-recognition-enable all of law enforcement but can't solve this?

Yeah, I've a soft spot for the An Oa myself, but my real fave is the Corryvreckan (tho hard to find in The States due to its abnormally high proof). Before the planet went to shit I considered any overseas trip not involving my returning w a bottle a failure ;)

I find most bourbon too sweet for my tastes TBH (though I do have soft spot for a Bourbon Manhattan when my fancy wanders away from whisky - - which, ironically, makes the drink *sweeter* - - go figure!)

I made an Electron app 100x smaller and reduced its idle memory by 100x. How? By hosting it on an URL. And opening in a browser. You're welcome.
