Dog fighting might not feel like an Australian problem, but experts say it's a growing issue with around 150 secret rings already operating. HSI is running workshops this week to help law enforcement officers recognise the signs of this disgusting practice

Forgive my passion for the birds but this site is not right for any development, the cattle and hoons are bad enough. Given Tas is already 100% renewable, wouldn’t this simply be to sell to Vic?

I’m concerned that looking for existing evidence of harm from a windfarm in a migratory bird sanctuary, in a state that does not prioritise conservation, is problematic. Its Ramsar listing was fought against, so the site remains vulnerable to inadequate protection & monitoring

Can we get the views of on this? When I first learned of this project years ago I met Bob after we’d visited the area and he was deeply concerned then. The Ramsar listing of this site was successfully objected to by locals and now it suffers low protection.

Winter is no excuse ... in a regular patrol of a short section of the Murray River in the Hattah Kulkyne National Park, Rangers found 16 unattended campfires with four completely abandoned but still alight.

This is a critically important refuge for birds from all over the world. I went to look at this site and there is no way you can argue for an industrial scale wind farm here in good conscience. There are already wind farms all around this site and they are having impacts.

Sad to see logging of Greater Glider habitat at Kinglake. 'Habitat' tree marked with 'H' was felled by VicForests anyway. This area featured in our 'Gliding towards extinction' report as example of habitat needing protection as reported

Jemma Cripps on our surveys: LBPs found at 37% of random sites across their distribution in 2016-17, and at more State Forest sites than within National Parks. Also recolonising 2009-burnt forest, more research to come.

Right now in Tantawangalo forest near Eden, Forestry Corporation of NSW is turning invaluable threatened species habitat... into woodchips. How on earth can a logging operation have no logs?

BREAKING: 2 FOREST DEFENDERS were today escorted from a coupe in by Authorised officers after a community vigil over last 2 weeks. Well done local citizen scientists: brilliant data collection of habitat trees & logging (mal)practices.
