Dress codes are always sexist and racist which means BW are typically the most punished.

As amazing as is, it is a tool designed to track code, not people. I'm sharing my annotated GitHub history to show you what it can't tell you about a developer.

This was triggering for me. And I mostly refrain from posting videos like this these days. But this is a very clear and precise moment of illustration. It might be educational for some people.

Women and other groups that are typically underestimated are going to be particularly sensitive to this. More than once, I've been offered jobs *below* my prior title and salary, after investing many hours talking and interviewing! No thanks.

., unless this is a photo of you telling cheeto in chief that he can’t be on your platform anymore, what positive thing could you possibly have hoped to accomplish with this?

If you are a person from an underrepresented background suddenly out of a job because the well-funded media startup that hired you is imploding in real time I am happy to make any introductions that might be helpful.

I hear from many devs who feel torn between staying at their current toxic tech job or putting themselves through a gauntlet of toxic tech interviews to find one that might be a bit better. I offer them empowered alternatives, but also as an industry, we can really do better...

Every. Single. Time. That I need to unmarshal an interface onto a struct. I need to look it up. The secret to professional software engineering is that I don't actually hold the knowledge in my brain. My brain is just an index of specific phrases to google.

Remember, ladies: sounding like you want the job by being competent means you couldn’t possibly want the job because too competent

Most tech hiring is still driven by fear instead of growth, leading to the myth of a “talent shortage.” It really doesn’t have to be this way. Hire for mindset, train with compassion, reap the rewards!

Dear white people. Don't just tweet about black men when we're getting beat or shot by police in a video on Twitter because it'll get you retweets. Tweet about us when we're alive, and in the community doing positive things too. If you really care about helping us.

I just heard about a company who put an engineer on a PIP and instructed them that they weren't allowed to pair or ask for help for the duration of it. This company is on one of those "Best places to work in Atlanta" lists, too. In case you put stock in those.
