A4: I noticed was that Ss would enjoy things more than they were letting on. With their heads up, nobody wanted to improve toys that I had the students create. With their heads down, all but 3 were excited to. So, make it safer to express enthusiasm when possible.

A5: The best PD I have ever found is talking to other teachers. This includes Music teachers, Science teachers and Dance teachers, not just CS teachers. We have a lot of the same challenges!

I had my 8th graders do a show me that you know something unit and part of how they could do that was to create tutorials. Showed me they knew it and we ended up w/videos to use for younger students. They knew that if they did a good job that would happen.

A1: I re-taught the same concepts in different projects over and over again, so if you missed one class the next class caught you up. I had the students teach each section after I'd posed it to them as a challenge.

This is old, but I just thought of it again today, and it is still beautiful and necessary and I love it.

Talking to of l about what is special about AI: "It's a tech but also an idea. We're creating ourselves in a machine." AI is, by its very nature interdisciplinary.

This is how I first learned about David Weber - a major fan of the books who owned a boardgame set in Honorverse said "If you can read this link, you can read David Weber"

When tech isn't designed with those most vulnerable to prejudice in mind, it benefits those with power or influence already. Making tech isn't used to marginalize others is a difficult battle that needs societal conversations, not more patches or redesigns

Talk to people who loved their bootcamp, talk to people who hated their bootcamp, talk to people who were self-taught (👋), talk to people with CS degrees, talk to people with computer-related degrees that aren't in CS. Talk to anyone who isn't trying to sell you something.

One of the best things I've heard from : We need to stop trying to continuously optimize broken technologies, and instead, start questioning their existence.
