It's noteworthy that they aren't listing delegates, and plausible they could lose on delegates with a ~4.5 point lead in the popular vote after realignment. twitter.com/samstein/statu…

It’s now a dynamic where it’s white guys arguing the police should be able to shoot whoever they want being followed by white guys who argue the police are racist so the policy won’t matter (it does matter). The commission, also, is extremely white.

The room is half full. Almost everyone is white. More public comments have come from crazy white guys who said the police should’ve shot *more* people. Communities impacted by police violence have not been represented much at all in this meeting.

Public comment period is coming up next. Have to push back against the police narrative and push for a policy that 1) limits officers to using minimum amount of force necessary; 2) requires de-escalation and 3) requires police to exhaust all alternatives prior to deadly force.

Now the police are proposing their revisions to the policy. Trying to water down the intent of AB 392 at the local level.

LAPD kills more people than any other police agency in America. LA Police Commission is debating if it should adopt new restrictions on deadly force that can substantially reduce this violence. Why aren’t there any other black people in the room while this decision is being made?

(honestly if we weren't working for competing news outlets there are easily enough journalists in Iowa to phone up every precinct chair and get the numbers ourselves)

These conspiracy theories are killing me. The Iowa caucus is run by old white volunteers--what's more likely, that they rigged the entire primary or they had trouble with an app?

Now that the Iowa caucus has become obsolete, hopefully we can move on to holding elections where one person gets one vote, the numbers get tallied up in a reasonable amount of time, and the candidate with the most votes wins.

The app being used tonight was cobbled together in the past two months after a previous reporting scheme - which involved caucus goers calling their votes in over the phone- was scrapped for security reasons. The app was never vetted by DHS, never tested at scale, and NV is...

This is a total mess. I respect the people of Iowa, they’ve been great—but it’s become very clear that our democracy has been misserved by a broken system. #IACaucus

It’s exciting we live in a country where the presumptive challenger to a fascist autocrat is essentially being decided by a game of Red Rover in an Iowa gym.

many of the 76 men who wrote the south carolina constitution of 1868 had just been emancipated from slavery a few years earlier. some were barely literate. the constitution they wrote guaranteed public education, abolished race discrimination, and gave rights to women. twitter.com/jasonscampbell…

Iowa caucus incredibly undemocratic:
-No absentee voting or secret ballot
-1000s with disabilities can’t participate
-40,000 with past felony convictions barred from voting
-Rural counties get more delegates than urban ones
This is not good way to choose party nominee
