For me it's warping wireframes of hypercubes projected to 3D. This is why I have problems with 4D spheres, since they don't have convenient corners or edges for the frame. Bisecting rings help a bit.

Now that I said it, I just realised that any time I am trying to find security problems or corner cases in code, I shut down that part of my brain. ∀x quantifiers don't mix with comic visuals.

I wonder if that kind of thinking would make it easier for you to process certain concepts. QFT, perhaps?
Even in crypto protocols, I usually see symbols flying between green MSN IM avatars. Crypto proofs are not-visual though, since visuals can mislead me.

How do you think of higher dimensions? Just numbers?

I'm forced to think abstractly, and sadness ensues. It's extremely unsettling for me until I find a lower dimensional analogy or projection. Linear algebra becomes much harder unless I can plug in small matrices for variables.

So you're saying we should dispense with one "true" coding style guide for all to follow? 😉

But yes, I don't feel like I understand a math concept if I can't visualize it. When I do mental addition, I'm usually skipping around on this blue page of numbers from the time I was a toddler. It's from a specific book with which I learnt to count to 100.

I have trouble imagining faces unless I have seen them repeatedly over months. Even then, they sort of fade into blank faces in my mind until the next time I see them.

listen to @lorenc_dan, he's right: "Every time you pip install, go get or mvn fetch something , you’re doing the equivalent of plugging a thumb drive you found on the sidewalk into your production server."

For the longest time I used to keep a dumber alter-ego on Stackoverflow.
rust-lang.org/community mentions an official Discord channel. They seem to have a #beginners channel in there.

It's really great to read about scientists finding low-budget ways to innovate in a high-investment field. At the same time, I'm a little sad that even they had to spend $15000 for an initial experiment.

Saving this to remind myself: never shell out a command for security-sensitive tasks. Every command can have its meaning changed, and there are way too many footguns. twitter.com/johnregehr/sta…

Thanks, that might actually work. I can't say I've dug around with `ip netns` much previously.
The original problem I was trying to solve was that I wanted CMake ExternalProject update to be optional. Instead it just fails if you don't have WiFi. No luck!
