Meh, Bennet entered late and has run a pretty half-assed campaign. The folks who should be complaining are people like Gillibrand who are not only well-credentialed but got in good and early.

NEW: Kudos to for releasing a health plan about...health. I reviewed the details. Pete moves beyond the question of how 2 cover people to hopeful, comprehensive actions 4 better mental health care, tackling addiction & making us healthier.

My latest: Software was eating the world — now landlords are eating everything "Landlords are taking $1 of every $8 in venture capital investments due NIMBYism that has captured San Francisco. YIMBY has moved public opinion. Tech must now get involved."

So the Kirkham project, 456 units/59 parking spaces, in West Oak had much support and near no opposition. Slated for approval. But you can't build this in 99% of San Francisco. It's insane how San Francisco's housing deficit unironically relies on West Oakland to fill it.

SF "progressives" have also shifted the city's housing deficit to Vallejo, Fairfield and Sacto, which worsens climate change by promoting long car commutes to SF.

Talk to any of the thousands of residents of supportive housing in SF. I’ve met thousands of these neighbors in D6, they’ve told me that the housing and supportive services is what allowed them to get and stay sober. Treatment and recovery on the street is very very hard.

Let’s be more effective, accountable, transparent, coordinated, proactive, and creative. We have to be. But let’s not back away from our responsibility to advance solutions. These are deep systemic multipronged problems that require deep multipronged and systemic solutions.

Our lack of adequate shelter and affordable housing, + the most expensive rental market, + systemic racism, transphobia and homophobia, are the causes. Along with devastating mental health and substance use crisis that isn’t receiving the coordinated robust response needed.

It is recklessly baseless to attack the solutions to our challenges as somehow being the cause of them. There’s no solution to homelessness that does not include more homes, more shelter, and more treatment beds. These interventions didn’t cause homelessness—quite the opposite.

Navigation centers, shelters and housing with treatment aren’t the cause of homelessness. They are a critical part of the solution, and we need a lot more of them. Public bathrooms aren’t the cause of feces on our streets, they are a part of the solution. We need more not less.

Inslee brought climate change to the fore of the campaign in a way no other candidate has. One of those still in the race would be wise to (a) make Inslee’s climate plan their climate plan, and (b) tell us that Inslee is going to have a slot on their cabinet if they win.

You know what's nice? I love my job. We're looking for the right person to take my job, and that's really nice too :), but I still love it. I love the people, I love the work, I love the impact. Don't want to ever take something this amazing for granted.

67% of people experiencing homelessness in the Bay Area are unsheltered, compared to 26% in Chicago metro, 16% in Denver, 15% in DC and 5% in NYC. Blocking shelters & leaving people on the street makes encounters like this *more* not *less* likely.
