Ya, definitely will reduce overall size of Ember itself. I’ll update the PR with a comment showing the size differences.

I'm learning about Ember and Octane, but I don't want to use fossil fuels

FWIW, there is an open PR to remove the `makeDefaultExport` functionality (with a deprecation first). I just ran out of steam and lost track of it for a bit.

We absolutely wanted and accept the feedback in whatever form it comes. This is precisely the point of the road mapping process. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and I hope that we continue to improve in a number of the areas that you called out.

It will be once the co-located template RFC is completed. That is absolutely something that I want to do in this addon.

Yes! Exactly this. I’m so happy when a test I’m debugging actually has an error in it (e.g. an assertion), no-try-catch + dev tools make it super easy to dig into.

I was fooling around the other day with Ember’s component manager system and made: Kinda neat API wise, and IMHO it’s super cool that we can experiment with new component APIs like this.

I **really** enjoyed having non-core team folks joining todays ember-data core team meeting. Did you know that anyone can join? The info is in the -ember-data channel over in the community discord.

In addition, how do you deal with changing your local Node version? Many solutions require that you reinstall all of your globally installed packages every time you update your system node version. With Volta these global packages are isolated from whatever your default node is.

ember-cli does a bunch of work to ensure we defer to a local install, with Volta that logic isn’t needed (of course we will keep it around for non-volta users). This means that packages that don’t properly defer to local installs will now work properly.

I particularly like the fact that the “global installs” have guaranteed stable Node versions regardless of my personal default. This means that the tool continues to work without effort _basically_ forever even if I keep updating my default Node as they come out.
