Words of the day: "The Watchful Tree" - folk-name given variously to the silver birch & the aspen, because of the 'eyes' that seem to gaze from these trees' trunks - formed either by natural bark-markings, or the healed lesions left by dropped branches.

Actress & genius Hedy Lamarr was born in Vienna 1914. In case you've been hibernating & don't know, she invented a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes during WWII. So yeh, pretty cool. Anyway, we've over 750 images of her online. Here she is in Samson & Delilah, 1949

Watching Come Dine With Me set in my hometown & the host is making a cocktail called the Queen Mother's Kick which seems to be vodka, gin and red bull 🍸 He's bought the ingredients from Bargain Booze. Me & the 10yo recognised the shop & cheered.
