Tips I use to avoid burnout: * Learn to say "no" more often. Know your limits. It's easy to over-commit * Time is your biggest asset. Spend it on what matters most. * It's OK to ask for help. This includes seeking collaboration vs. going alone * Take short breaks to recharge

Also take a look at Firebase. I think that might offer just what you need.

I'm confused by employers who are reluctant to hire mums. If you've ever attempted to get a toddler dressed, fed & out the door by a certain time you know the people who do this day in day out are top notch project mngrs with incredible negotiation skills. Right ?

Speaking of low power, there's another constraint that we're not generally thinking about nearly enough. The internet is a huge contributor to the global climate emergency, and as technologists we're in a position to do something about it.

Or for me as a reader to say "I know lots about tech but less about international trade policy", and then the article have more information about the areas I'm seeking to learn, and be terser when I know most of the context.

I've thought about this lots in the past few years. Yes, it can be. Journalism is about finding information. The presentation layer can adapt to the user. Why shouldn't an article be read to you in beginner Spanish at 80 beats per minute for you on a treadmill?

Great role with my superb friend - a better person to work for I cannot think of and just *look* at what they’re up to at - how exciting is that?!

If you’re a woman (+anyone who IDs as one/wishes to+) & thinking of dropping out of tech bc lack of support, diversity, promo issues, or general fuck-it-bucket stuff, hit me up first. We need you. Change doesn’t happen overnight but it’ll be faster if we push for it together 💯

Genome sequencing 'revolution' in diagnosis of sick children - amazing what's happened since the start of the human genome project in 1990.

I'm afraid I'm a little one-note at the moment, and may be for some time. But I really wanted to talk about why the pressure to keep your pregnancy a secret before 12 weeks feels oppressive
