had a dream that I was stuck in a tiny room full of the maskless masses. It was a low ceiling basement, I was very far from the exits, and everyone wanted to make small talk. this is what has taken root in my imagination.

We are so much better than the worst thing we have ever done, and so much worse than the best thing we have ever done. Such marks the complications of our human story, and continues to be a force that drives me to prayer.

Don’t do them the service of calling them the proud boys. Call them the Klan. Part of their power is manipulating obscurity of language.

Thanks for sharing this Anthony. I’ve been talking with friends and we’re all gassed already. This is nuts. Prayers to you and your students and some of these responses.

My neighbor rang the doorbell at 7:15am to give us a bag full of mangos and lemons from his mango and lemon tree. In a matter of seconds, early morning outrage turned to immense gratitude. Strange timing. The urgency of mangos. I’m in.

As much as I like to complain about school I do miss picking outfits to wear, biking to class, talking to a bunch of people all afternoon rather than doing the reading, eating pretty suspect meatloaf for lunch, and wondering how tf I ended up in Niebuhr Hall.

I’m not interested in contributing to systems where the real shit is only talked about in resignation letters. I hate that I feel the need to even declare such a position. But sadly, that’s where we are.

to get politicized/radicalized as a white person is to accept losing a lot of old friends, and making a lot of new ones. whether we want to admit it or not, we have been choosing a side all along. each day we have the opportunity to shift our allegiance. maybe that’s redemption
