Early spring can come with its drawbacks... The groundhog is a rodent of the family Sciuridae, belonging to the group of large ground squirrels known as marmots. This shot of a Tibetan fox attacking a Himalayan marmot won the grand prize. 📸: Yongqing Bao

Hi Jack! It's a lamprey.🙂 Lampreys and eels are both fish but belong to separate family groups. Both live in water and have gills, but lampreys belong to the group Agnatha, all of which have no jaws. Eels are part of Gnathostomata, meaning jawed vertebrates.

If you are in Toronto the bloodsuckers exhibit at the Royal Ontario Museum is a must. Even with kids! Seemed scary for a 4 year old but it wasnt at all.

Lastly, she shared some of her unique musical techniques, like using filters & foot pedals to play with pacing, so that “stories come to your mind in a different way...” 🎻 Thank you, for sharing your magic with us!

Being the NASA Artist in Residence was a "very weird job." 🚀 It was such a dream come true, at first she didn't believe them. For nearly 3 yrs she got to be "a fly on the wall", fascinated by whiteboards for future projects that were "40 ft long with 10,000 yr timelines".

VR is a "very geeky" art form & "cumbersome way to do things," but she loves it "because you can fly." "We know nothing really about the connection between the brain and the body...VR has many fascinating & important...applications in many other things."

Instead of scolding her, her mother said "I didn't know what a great swimmer you were. And what a wonderful diver". "That moment changed my life...I learned everything... that oftentimes you don't deserve what you get. Also that words are so powerful."

She shared a very formative & personal story that "taught [her] the power of words." When she was 8, while out with her 2-year-old twin brothers, their stroller broke through the ice of a frozen lake, sinking underwater. She dove in and managed to save them.

The legendary Laurie Anderson stopped by for a captivating ROM Speaks about stories and technology. 💡 Though her work has always embraced it, "if you think technology is going to solve your problems, you don't understand technology & you don't understand your problems."
