Extremely frustrating reading some of the headlines about & . Some (admittedly, not all) media can do so much better in the lopsided coverage of African tragedies, which presents a diluted, and sometimes false narrative, but also minimises victims' humanity.

Perspective matters. It is easy to focus on the things that have gone wrong, past failures and and goals that remain unachieved. The result: frustration and despondency. Today and every day, just take a moment to consider how far you’ve come. The result: hope-filled gratitude.

Just received the most heartbreaking text from the mother of one of the missing Chibok girls. Esther Yakubu, the mother of Dorcas wanted me to know she will be 20 tomorrow and to wish her a happy birthday. This picture was taken a day before she was kidnapped. She was 16.

I recall my folks taking me to several performances by the Steve Rhodes voices at the National Theatre, I think sometime in the late 80s. My earliest memory of this musical icon & his group must have been when I was 6 or 7. Great and lasting memories.
