The thing that really unites people who oppose M4A is having absolutely no goddamned clue about how our current system or insurance companies work.

Yeah, you have given absolutely no consideration to how things work in reality and, even more clearly, have absolutely no idea about how they work now.
Good luck the next time you need healthcare and your wonderful insurance company *does their job* and tells you NO.

Yeah, I've been advocating for single payer since elementary school (side effect of having a patient advocate for a mom!) — there is truly nothing you can tell me that would be new information.

If the half-assed plans covered everything, they would *also* make insurance companies unnecessary.

Actually, the plan is that it covers *everything,* thus making insurance companies *unnecessary.* It's not that insurance companies will be made illegal, but that they will be made unnecessary, because everything will be covered. Dig?

One of the big expenses in health care is billing. It costs $$$$ and time for people to send out bills to different insurance companies. All of the bills going to the same place, automatically, saves a fuckton of money.

No, they don't exist. That is absolutely ridiculous. Also, the GOP will be able to take a shitty half-assed plan that people don't like away a hell of a lot more easily than a good and simple plan that covers every body and every thing.

4. It doesn't save money on administrative/billing fees (20% of all health care costs)
5. It doesn't allow for the negotiating of drug costs
6. It doesn't have any of the features that make M4A a less expensive option than traditional insurance.

Here's what happens with a two tiered system.
1) It doesn't have to cover everything
2) It's not that good, because stuff for poor people in the US rarely is
3) DOCTORS DON'T HAVE TO TAKE IT.

We should. But also that plan is not pragmatic — it would be a huge mess that cost more than M4A, people would be annoyed and we'd NEVER get UHC. We would be better off doing nothing than doing that, because we'd at least still have the hope of getting it done in the future.

I’m going to write a screenplay about the five black women out of the three black people in Iowa who somehow wound up standing behind Buttigieg during his speech. twitter.com/colleenschlege…

Maybe it was just a coincidence that there are five Black women in the front row right behind Pete Buttigieg and they got there early and got very good seats! I am a bit more cynical than that though.

Him being white or cis has literally nothing to do with why I don't support him. That would apply to the majority of candidates still running. I don't support him because he wants to do everything half-assed.

Exactly. Representation is great, but that doesn't mean that what he stands for and what he wants to actually do are progressive things. These are two different things entirely.

Mostly I just feel personally insulted by Pete claiming that many progressives are supporting him.
It's like when you're looking at a guy because you know you hate him but can't remember why and then suddenly realize he thinks you're checking him out.

At this point it's just absurd. It is just absurd.
Like, I get it. They're seeing the writing on the wall with Biden and they need a viable moderate, but it's super weird to be this obvious about it.

OK, so they're on CNN going on about how it will be really unfair to Buttigieg, specifically, if he won and didn't get to give a real, official victory speech tonight.
Are you fucking kidding me? Wouldn't that be bad for anyone who won?
