Very frustrating to see you saying this when you vote against every measure to actually do it. 2016 was a particularly vintage year for you, wasn't it George...

Thanks! Writing this was a great first insight into the publishing process, on the whole I enjoyed it 🙏

We really need to reckon with this in the UK. I make mildly dangerous cycling manoevers in London almost daily to avoid being stuck behind their (more dangerous) exhausts. It's often tempting to mount the kerb to get out of there, which just makes life hard for pedestrians.

What's that spike circa 1997?

Slightly unfair of to put that in direct quotes given she actually said something more like: "Well if you don't mind me saying, it's a daft question". Being more abrupt makes a more viral tweet but I had journos pegged as appreciating direct vs indirect quotes.

Last year I read a letter to the editor (in ?) by somebody who had carried a CO2 monitoring device around a mega-conference (EGU?). They found it was *super* high in some of the rooms. Now Google is failing me; does anybody remember the author/title? ?

On reflection that’s not the best transatlantic idiom - next time I’ll go with well done...

Completely true in my view. It may have been harder, but it was still eminently possible. After all, we're better at tech now but we have a far larger problem to solve with it.

"Copernicus are confident that all abstracts will be processed" - how can they be when we can't even submit them for processing?
