Yesterday's Garda clampdown on electric scooters has worked a treat. Everyone is feeling much safer on our city's streets today.

Car owners who park on pavements - you are absolute arseholes who are forcing disabled people into the roads - wheelchair users have to go into the road to go round your car - guide dogs will guide their owners into the road to avoid your car - STOP IT

There you have it folks. NEED to park diagonally across the cycle lane on a 20 m wide road because they're really concerned about cyclist safety Last I checked, they don't stop motorists by physically blocking the lane. Why do they feel it's necessary for cyclists?

Pretty shook up-just got hit by a jeep while cycling into work but was extremely lucky- he hit the back of the bike+I escaped ok,shaking+crying but OK. (chocolate is helping) The driver told me "I looked for cars, not cyclists so I didn't even see you." Drivers-LOOK FOR CYCLISTS

This photo of a tiny remaining fragment of temperate rainforest, Wistman's Wood on Dartmoor, by Neil Burnell, reminds us of what we're missing across much of Western Britain. Why isn't its restoration, on our deforested hills, an ecological priority?

Cycling advocacy meets Devil Wears Prada. Us, ppl who actually care about road safety, when we hear endless talk about helmets & hi-vis and nothing on safe infrastructure & enforcement.

Cycling advocacy meets Devil Wears Prada. We demand for safe cycling infrastructure and decision makers ask where they'll get the money for it? (How is it that there's always money for widening roads for 🚙 but not safe infra for ppl on 🚲? 🤷🏽‍♀️)

From 2013 to 2017, the number of trips made by e-bike in the Netherlands increased 72% for a total of 700 million kilometres. "The e-bike replaces the car for commuting. An increase in the use of e-bikes therefore leads to a decrease in the use of cars."

And yes, the same Council that are looking for funding to widen a Greenway out in the suburbs due to cycling-walking conflicts, want to now put people cycling and walking on the same footpaths in the city centre 🤦‍♂️

In the past if you became homeless in West Cork, you went to your local welfare office. Now, you have to go to Clonakilty! What if you're fleeing domestic abuse? Have children? Pets? Can't drive? (there isn't a bus from Bantry to Clon!). 😳 HT

They count HAP as social housing. HAP means the state pays landlords for their privately rented properties instead of building social & affordable homes. In 2019, the state will pay €423m to landlords. How many homes could be built with that? That is ideology.

Cycling advocacy meets Devil Wears Prada. When the safe segregated cycling lanes we have are replaced by "shared space", mixing ppl walking + ppl on 🚲 and retaining parking.
