Reminder that Marvel is led by a fierce Trump ally who is endangering our lives. Kudos to Spiegelman for taking him on directly in this excerpt:

Planning fundraisers for candidates in swing districts, hand writing letters to voters in swing districts, and scheduling out of state voter registration day trips... this is what Democracy looks like.

In the past 50 years, ~20% of the Amazon has been cut down in Brazil. ⚠️If another 20% of the Amazon were to go, that could trigger a dieback feedback loop, in which the forest dries out and burns. The Amazon would devolve into a savannah-like landscape.⚠️

This thread is depressing is hell but also important. Bolsonaro’s policies in the Amazon are a good example of the link between contemporary fascism and the literal death of the planet.

I already engaged with CS, who, as always, reassured me it's normal and that the charge would be voided. It wasn't. So, once again, I have to resort to to fix the mistake YOU should have avoided. It's getting tiresome. Again, just DON'T DO IT ANYMORE.

I am tired of having to dispute Uber charges with my credit card bc Uber DOES NOT void initial hold charges when I want to apply Uber credit. STOP DOING THAT. It is profoundly unethical. Don't apologize. JUST DON'T DO THAT ANYMORE.

(Which is not at all to echo a certain demagogue's cries of "fake news" at ALL. (Journalists are my heroes.) It's merely to say the occupants of the White House are shameless liars who are good at self-dealing & self promo, most of which bears v. little relationship to reality.)

Listen. You're going to see a LOT of news stories about how great ol' Grabby is doing on fundraising in the next several months. Pay them no mind. There were a lot of stories about how great the Ivanka brand was doing too.

NASA global temperature for July is out! It's the hottest July on record, and a tie with August 2016 for the hottest month overall since records began in the 19th C. NOAA announced it is the hottest month in their data. The will get worse until we wake up and act.

It's worth noting the $100k Ron Lauder gave to Republican "Fight for Tomorrow" PAC was used to buy a Green Party candidate ad time in order to try to defeat Dem Antonio Delgado in tight race against GOP John Faso. Green Party candidate was polling at 1%.
