I also went and read up on this and I'm amazed I've never really ran into issues from just doing -f? though admittedly I don't do -f without checking, so I likely just rebase first and do a regular ol' push in those cases

I haven't tried steam with retropie, but I'm sure it's totally doable! I'm actually using steam on my elementary install and it works great for older indie titles and I am sure it would work for some modern ones too (depending on hardware)

for a while I had kodi set up as a "ports" in retropie along with "desktop" so I could easily switch back and forth between the three front ends
