Boom! Instant top 1, congrats on the launch! I'd actually love the web to look a bit more like that than what we have now.

The icons remind me of those "unbranded" Chinese phones.

Yes, I read the PDF after your initial tweet. I learned a lot from it, but I got very curious about their whole infrastructure, and I can't find any detailed description :( I could only find about their CT logs infra.

So they have many servers (each one with those specs), and each one has a full replica of the whole DB?

That’s impressive! But they run just a single server? (+ backups etc)

It looks like conda will catch up fast. But I’m personally waiting for the second gen Apple silicon.

Looking forward to this! I’d like to know more about handling updates (already mentioned by ) and customer support (how do you help them debug problems that maybe are not even your product’s fault).

If only I had any (engineers)... 😂 Dealing with humongous Jupyter notebooks with no Markdown/docs, deploying on a k8s cluster without many explanations and teaching Python as a side job, have made me really appreciate technical writing.

I don't know if it counts. I love writing docs and documenting my work/progress, as if somebody completely unrelated to the code had to work on it in the future without having me.

Those things are so inspiring. I was also impressed learning that Ken Thomson wrote Unix (or what became Unix) in 3 weeks he was alone at home ()

I used to use a bookmark search extension go through them, but it stopped working. I tried getting a token for the Twitter API to automate something and got denied :( At least when I remember checking the bookmarks it feels like reading the absolute perfect timeline.

This would be great. I currently use a vim plugin that auto generates the docstring based on the function signature, but it still feels repetitive.

How to become expert at thing: 1 iteratively take on concrete projects and accomplish them depth wise, learning “on demand” (ie don’t learn bottom up breadth wise) 2 teach/summarize everything you learn in your own words 3 only compare yourself to younger you, never to others
