I swear someone once told me that -in some other country, maybe?- it's the other way around for some reason that was TOTALLY INEXPLICABLE, because this is obviously the sensical version.

No I'm saying the meaning behind them is uncertain now because meaning evolves. Traditionally x was hug and o was kiss. But if more ppl believe x means kiss and o means hug now, then it does.
