Today I blessed and installed a relic of Saint Faustina at the John Paul II Shrine of Divine Mercy in Salem, MA. Here with the Rector, Fr. Bedzinski and Fr. Zebrowski who joined us.

We printed 1000 of these books in my parish and gave them all out before Ash Wednesday. Each day of Lent and Holy Week there is a reflection by a different parishioner:

Besides our 3 Masses and 1 service for Ash Wednesday, our Church of Saint Theresa in North Reading will be distributing ashes to anyone who wants to come by between 10 am and 3 pm. Someone will be there, so come by, say a prayer and start your Lent.

Last night I went to a screening of the new movie “Paul, Apostle of Christ” due in theaters 3/23. Loved it! Jim Caviezel plays Luke brilliantly. Rereading Acts now inspired by it. See for trailer.

It was explained to me. Now I understand that it gets seen by the followers of the 106 that liked it. Thanks Rocco!

What am I missing? My Tweet about why I have to give up coffee for Lent was sent to my 1000 followers. It was retweeted only once by someone with 208 followers, yet the stats show it has 10,727 impressions (i.e. times people saw it). How is this possible?

I asked the children at Mass what they thought I should give up for Lent and one boy immediately said “Coffee!” The rest of them saw my reaction (like Daniel 5:6) and they all thought that was a great idea. So... coffee it is.

Holy Orders is all about διακονία - service - after the supreme example of Jesus. Bishop Mark O'Connell ordained Paul Nguyen, OMV_USA as a transitional Deacon and together we reverence the call to lay down our lives...

Celebrated a Mass of Prayer and Penance at parish in Salem MA that was tragically effected by the abuse of minors by priests. These Masses were said throughout the entire Archdiocese of Boston.

Today I had the awesome privilege of ordaining to the transitional diaconate. Deacon Bryan Kerns O.S.A. is from Philly so tomorrow we will be on different sides of the field, but today he gave me a great honor. Blessings on you Deacon.

The Catholic Schools Week Mass at Arlington Catholic was beautiful. Fr. Flatley and Fr. Graham and I all thought that the music aided by Michaela and Cate Gallagher was especially nice.

Malden Catholic has been an all boys school founded by the Xaverian Brothers for over 50 years. Next year they are adding a girls school. Expanded the building - boys are on one side girls on the other. 150 girls have applied so far.
