Yesterday was devastating. BuzzFeed News said goodbye to some of the most talented, brilliant, and compassionate people I've ever had the privilege to meet and work with. While I try to make sense of exactly what happened you guys should hire them asap

Dozens of incredible journalists lost their jobs at yesterday. They are talented people with good hearts doing standard-bearing work who suddenly experienced this trauma. I am personally heartbroken. Our industry needs to do better.

The brilliant & hilarious was let go today. One time I was complaining about struggling to become a morning person, and his response feels apt today: "We must never forget, it's all capitalism's fault." read him, hire him.

I’ve been laid off from BuzzFeed News, like so many of my brilliant colleagues. I gave a lot of myself to that team over the past two and a half years, and I loved working there writing about wild things. Drop me a line if you’ve got a job for me: blakersdozen@gmail.com 💙💙💙

Yep, it's true. The entire national security desk at BuzzFeed News has been disbanded. It wasn't around for long, but for a year and a half we punched way, way above our weight and I'm fiercely proud of the work we did here under .
