Ridiculously humbling to see the degree of AWS’s investment in the Segment partnership for the Personalize launch. Segment + Personalize is a no brainer

6) Apple is helping the industry take a step in the right direction for privacy. They're cleverly deterring data gossip (the buying/selling of data between companies) by building trust between businesses and users, while also minimizing risk for businesses. I love it.

5) The idea that Apple sign-in won’t be embraced because businesses depend on email addresses is misguided. Honest businesses don't really need them, they just need a way to re-engage w/ their users, and that can be a randomized anonymous email or any other form of anonymous ID.

4) On the businesses side, Apple is mitigating the risk / liability that comes with storing email addresses. This is like how Stripe takes on the burden of PCI compliance by storing credit card information for their customers.

3) Apple is helping solve both of these issues. Email addresses are global identifiers. By making them random and anonymized (or not having to use them at all), they are disincentivizing 3rd party data sharing by making it less effective and in turn, building trust with users.

2) Consumers are increasingly concerned about sharing their personal info w/ businesses, because companies haven't been transparent about how that data is being used (e.g., buying/selling data). At same time, businesses want to rebuild trust w/ users and minimize risk/liability

With the addition of Segment Functions and support for Web Plugins in the Developer Center, martech vendors officially have *no excuse* not to be integrated with Segment. Moreover, our *entire* team is round-robining 1:1 hackathons to get partners over the line
