Why does false information spread faster than true on social media ? It's simple, because it's fiction. The narrative is usually carefully crafted to be both believable by and supportive of a particular point of view. Real information is often messy, ambiguous, and unsettling.

Yes, we all get different view points. You might also want to read Tsonis, well worth the effort to understand the complexity:

The source appears to be the liberal desire to globalize economies, peaking under Obama. This is my response to a local newspaper:

Peter, I was trained as an atomic and molecular physicist, upper atmosphere, who then morphed into a statistician. Some years ago, I took apart several GCMs for my own edification. I have seen local pressure to catasrophize while living in Northwest CT.

Exactly. Some contracts are with the investigator and some with the institution. If the contract is with the investigator, he can leave for another institution. Otherwise not.

It is curious that the same type of comment applies to Japan. I once saw a successful Japanese manufacturing manager get asked why his best people didn't default to R&D. He responded that manufacturing people had more respect, because they actually accomplish something.

every published research paper should ideally have an accompanying summary blog post. i've tried to do this for everything i've published post-Ph.D. (sometimes batching several papers into one post) & encourage my students to do the same. 10-100x more people will read blog posts.

Agreed. Famous people, including politicians and cartoonists, can suffer defamation without recourse because they must prove actual malice (disregard of truth), not just harm. Such people were defined by:

If all homes had solar panels, then the grid system requires instantaneous response times at significant cost and complexity because the current laws require buy in of that electricity. Further, the resultant grid leads to large distribution losses. Think clouds...

The 97% are those who think, from the physics, that CO2 can add some temperature. Depending on the reference, it was not limited to "experts". There is no such thing as an "expert" in a multi discipline like climate science, but if there were, then:

Notice that the observations were under clear sky from 10 miles, that is, without feedback from clouds. Thanks for the obvious piece of information about limited feedback without clouds. (Curious that the measurement was not metric.)

Exactly. That is the only way to get an estimate of 255 C for the temperature without an atmosphere. Welcome to climate alarmists, the flat earth people.
