While Twitter is alight with opinions about the latest Dalek redesign, I'd like to wave a flag in favour of my mum's 1977 Iced Dalek with Candle Blasters and a Victoria sponge filling. Yum. (Also, Daleks versus giant chocolate owls is a plotline nobody's done yet.)

There's a woman on my street who wears a distinctive yellow coat and walks a baby in a pushchair (her grandchild, I think) round and round my block, several times a day, always anticlockwise. I'm unsure whose personal low-budget Truman Show hell we're trapped in, hers or mine.

It is tamed and used to drive fishes into fishermen's nets, apparently!

My favourite otter fact from the Historie of Foure-Footed Beastes is this one, however. Whenever I see an otter from now on, I shall loudly pronounce it to be "A VERY CRAFTY AND SUBTILL BEAST".

By the way, if you are curious about what an otter looked like in 1607, here's an illustration. I strongly suspect the artist had never seen an otter, but had possibly seen a lot of furious lions wearing ear-muffs.

I was reading about otters in Edward Topsell's The Historie of Foure-Footed Beastes (1607) and found this fascinating fact. For those unfamiliar with 17th-century typography, let me affirm, it says "it doth not sucke in water, but aire." That's "SUCKE". Not the other thing.

I'm going to move all these weapons and doomsday device remote controls to a VERY high shelf. The world will thank me later. *takes step ladder with her when she leaves*

I guess the benefit of the final showstopper being a colossal dessert tower that "reflects your baking experience" is if the entire thing collapses in a pile of crème pâtissière and shattered dreams, well, THAT is your baking experience.
