Emergency ~exclusive~ Vergecast! I talked to about his plans for Tumblr, with a big assist from . It sounds like the plan is to reinvigorate blogging, which, frankly, would be awesome.

One thing that jumped out in this interview: the real sense that Tumblr didn’t lose nearly as many users due to the porn ban as people think.

The other thing that jumped out: the idea that Tumblr can bring back some old-school blogging vibes and really make a run at big social networks like Facebook and Twitter

The marketing is in need of a fast, attractive and simple blogging platform. Ideally free ad supported or super affordable e.g. $10 a year. I need a blog but don't have the desire to deal with an entire WordPress site and it's admin. And Medium is too expensive and niche

Yes! I want to have a blog again, it's been a while. Make it simple and secure from spam garbage. Maybe $20/year or so?

if only they'd focus on reinvigorating the countless content creators/communities who were alienated and tossed to the side by the NSFW ban. hardly anyone in the community wants the ban to stay in place, and the unwillingness to remove it shows how out of touch the new owners are

the replies to this new purchase have mostly been "but are they going to remove the NSFW ban tho". if they continue to censor the site, then we might as well have stayed under verizon. the new owners just care about the money, not how the community feels. same old corporate shit.

Damn, yeah! has to stay welcoming to bloggers and artists. Not cam girl rings, not 'alternative p0rn'. Bloggers and creators. That's the mass of users. I hope will do the right thing and *keep* the needed ban. People that need a wank can go to tube sites.
