someone write me a book where some little girl summons a demon bc she’s lonely and wants friends and the demon is pissy at first but then he starts to like the tea parties and having his makeup done and vows that if anyone hurts his small, fragile human he’ll devour their soul

Have you seen the tumblr post/story about the old lady who accidentally summoned a demon but thought it was her grandson and the demon played along and let her knit him sweaters

Omg I need this. It would make the BEST graphic novel. Like Anya’s Ghost meets that weird episode of spongebob where he teaches a villain to be good.

priests and spiritualists and seers constantly knock on her door. “Ma’am, there is an evil prescence here, we must get you away—“ “Oh no that’s just greg, he’s fine.” “...Greg?” “well his full name is Grexorialis, devourer of souls, but that’s a little Much.”

the little girl grows up and starts a family. & the demon really is not Sure about these squealy, human babies--but he starts to love them, too. And he loves this family, bc they never make him feel different, even though he leaves scales everywhere and sometimes he hiccups fire.

eventually, the contract expires--it expired years ago. He never told her. "You can go home, if you want," she says He wanted that, once. Now he's not so sure. Terrorizing people doesn't sound so fun. He huffs. Makes excuses. The girl sees through it. They make a new contract.

The kids move out. Their father dies, and then it's just the two of them again. They have tea parties again, but the little girl isn't so little anymore. She sleeps a lot more. Her hair is white, and her bones ache. The demon frets, and knows what's coming, but he stays.

(only, like, the soul-swallowing happens *before* the demon develops affection for the kid)

The demon is no stranger to mortality. He made a life out of torturing humans. He reveled in their pain, and found glory in their death. This is not glorious. At first, it looks like she's asleep. But she's cold. "Stop crying," her soul tells him. "Demons don't cry."

Clearly, you must write this. You just outlined it on Twitter. And it’s brilliant.

"I'm not crying," he says. But he is. It's burning the carpet, and he's making a mess. And when her soul leaves, he stays. Doesn't quite know what to do with himself. He could go home--but it doesn't feel like home anymore, either. It hasn't in a long time.

Decades creep by. Demons aren't meant to mourn, but he does. One day, a little boy summons him. He wants the demon to scare a bully. The demon pauses. The boy is angry. But he's lonely, too. Instead, the demon makes the boy some tea. He stays. And he knows she'd be proud.
