My sincere apologies if "think piece" has a negative or light connotation I was unaware of. I'm talking about how in an internet age, Hurston would probably be phenomenal at topical essays on a quick timeline (many of our best essayists and thinkers are) in addition to all else.

Brandon, I was using “think piece” to mean “timely essay” — my point being that while she’d still be doing scholarship, the current publishing environment is conducive to some great fast responses too... If “think piece” has other connotations, I was not aware.

Dickinson would be on just enough Abilify to function in the world and post cat and introvert memes. Proust would get some great steroidal inhalers.

If Dickens were alive today, he’d be writing for prestige TV. If Parker were alive, she’d be the queen of Twitter. Hurston would be writing devastating think-pieces AND winning the the multiple NBAs she deserves. Fitzgerald would be the guy to avoid at the AWP bar. What else?
