Courageous, accurate commentary by Dan. I’m sure stick-to-sports-Guy/girl is having a meltdown somewhere, but one of the many reasons I left is that I was tired of the pretense Dan discusses here.

As a teacher, speaking out on issues of politics...I feel this.

This stuff tends to quickly go from ‘free speech’ to ‘I’m curious’ to white nationalism pretty quickly.

Yup. I’ve asked the people who are defending the follow to explain the value added to the system. I haven’t received any credible responses. “It’s good to be exposed to multiple viewpoints” isn’t a great place to stand when one of those views is to systematically oppress others.

I read it that way. There are some things that don’t need discourse anymore. The moon landings happened. The earth is round. Vaccinations are good. Nazis are bad.

What value does he get from following her? What’s the value to our students?

From an aggregate standpoint, if the Minister of Education is listening to White Nationalist views...how will the diverse group of Ontario Students benefit?

Certainly her views would not be in line with the equity strategy.

I’m not 100% clear what benefit he or I would gain from following a neo-nazi white nationalist.

Then he probably knows how to use twitter well enough to unfollow someone. Some voices don’t deserve a follow. Some views don’t deserve a platform. What is he gaining by following her? What is the value to Ontario Education in the Minister being exposed to her views?

Well, this isn’t a good look. The Ontario Minister of Edication and his Parliamentary Secretary follow neo-Nazi Faith Goldy.

Hey and Can you please respond as to why you follow Faith Goldy on Twitter? As the heads of education in Ontario, what example are you setting for our kids? I am tagging in because this should be a public discussion!

The thread ends on this but read the entire thing. Once again, this is why gave voice to this practice: it's called consenting to learn in public. If you're writing, publishing, making money in public then you have to consent to LEARN there as well.

Thanks for correcting your mistake . Now is wondering why you follow Faith Goldy? What’s the value on that?

I’ve heard these excuses. I’m tired of these excuses. Our students deserve better.
