I should point out that the "noticing" does not necessarily happen right away in situation Y, by recalling the card. Sometimes it happens because I review the card the day after situation Y happened.

The role spaced repetition plays in this is in "and notice it". It allows me for bringing more awareness in options for my behavior I wouldn't have naturally considered.

One way this works for me is the following. I have a card "why should you do X in situation Y?". I get in situation Y, I forget about doing X, and notice it. Repeat a bunch of times. I get in situation Y, think "I'm about to forget about doing X", I do X.

I'm still experimenting. I usually create cards along the lines of "why should you do x in situation y?", "what could doing x mean in situation y?".

I had this issue for about a week, today a friend reported to me the same issue, we both use Firefox. Last night, right before closing Roam, I opened the graph overview and today the entries were there 😄

Spaced repetition for programming own behavior works, it is scary and it is fascinating.

I'm done reading Il Deserto dei Tartari/The Tartar Steppe by Dino Buzzati. Up until the last chapter I was filled with a sense of melancholy towards life. The last chapter reversed that energy for me, I really enjoyed the ending!

That is something we are working on.

Anki forces to break down a chain of related concepts in single cards that don't know anything about their interrelationships. A way to implement larger context in every card would be a prohibitive copy/paste job.

It is very useful to provide much larger context in the answer, for instance, the paragraph of the book where we got that piece of information.

The answer can be made longer than the concept it represents, it's a reference. We use it to check that what we recalled is correct and to "fix" our memory.

My interpretation of the assertion is that concepts should be atomic. In the concrete card this should be reflected in the question (pointer to memory) but not necessarily in the answer.

Many people assert that both question and answers should be atomic. I think we need to differentiate between *what concept a card represents* and the *concrete card*.

This reflects something that is important but difficult to implement in Anki. (thread)

It forces me to recall the law definition in addition to its interpretation, strengthening that memory path. On the other hand, I might not recall what the law is. I'd fail at pulling its interpretation out of thin air. Although, given context, I would have recalled it. 2/2

Conflicted about this kind of cards. It asks for the interpretation of Fourier's Law, without context about what Fourier's Law is. 1/2

Example of bad card.. I always reveal the answer right after thinking about the first cloze, I never get to actually recalling "full name".

Avoiding Yes/No answers in Anki cards usually requires some more thinking compared to more straightforward cards. This is the most effective tactic I've found so far for cards where the answer would be "No".

Next up is some books by Giordano Bruno on memory techniques related morality. I'll read this too! Thanks for the suggestion
