Sonos has now moved from offering to brick devices to threatening to do so. Mail I just received says my devices are eol in May and do not have enough compute resources to "sustain innovation". Get a real business model folks, claiming these can't sustain playing music is not it.

Selling a consumer product then turning it into a limited rental service is a heck of a bait-and-switch. Guess I won't be buying any more Sonos gear.

If they'd have had a service subscription of some form for "sustainability' I'd probably be willing to pay it. They failed to identify a business model that sustains them.
Anyway, I agree. I guess I'll finally be building replacements this year.

Looks like Sonos is just allocating their resources to advance another one of their amazing bets.
