Sorry, those experiences are never fun. I wasn’t referring to you or your experience particularly, but a generic behind-the-scenes type of show on academic life and nuances, exaggerated for entertainment purposes.

I see what you did there! Clever. Here’s mine: Canadians who Rode on Evil Epstein’s Plane. Can you guess what it spells?

Elections Canada has warned us that mentioning that climate change is real might be considered partisan activity. Complain to them here:

Folks, whatever your feelings or opinions on Jeffrey Epstein or the projects funded by Epstein money are, please do not let that spill even an iota into careers of students or ECRs. Thanks! Even mentioning students names in Epstein stories may be counter damaging!

1) North Korean hackers were ethical than Chinese, not stealing any patient data 2) why not employ an air-gap around healthcare systems and apply blanket ban on “atypical” and extra-sovereign traffic? 3) Encrypt all of your devices with or without data!!

I think the actual research project and proposal are funded foremost, followed by the PI, environment and collaborations etc. Acting like grant is PIs personal research $$ may neither attract or esp. retain the best talent available.

Yes, this does not eliminate the root causes (toxic incentives), but helps mitigate its impact as we inch towards a better community-driven open, fair and ethical academy.

While this might already be implied in some Tenured professions, I think this must be *specifically* evaluated while reviewing the tenure dossier, as well as making it a continued requirement with regular (5-7 years?) review of ethics and integrity in the span of a tenured career

By greater responsibility, I meant to include higher standards of ethics and academic integrity. One thing I'd like to prevent is undue/unethical acquisition/"snatching" of credit, esp. from junior colleagues within the same institute (senior authorship) or outside (not citing!).
