Under a predictive coding framework one might hypothesise that hypnosis can affect perception but it's very challenging to distinguish effects on perception itself from effects that bias how we report perception. Perhaps this is possible in motor domain?

— whether psychological factors can directly influence the contents of perception ("cognitive penetrability") is a very old philosophical question and one that has come to the fore once again due to amazing work from people like . 1/2

oof, me too. I take it that, like me, you knew it was possible but just enjoyed playing with theme aesthetics too much? Got a good guide?

Our findings suggest these faults may be found earlier in this process than was typically thought. 2/2

Unclear at this stage but it fits into a broader discussion within and neurology that certain FNDs may stem from subtle but deleterious faults in how the brain subconsciously processes the world and then initates (or fails to initiate) movement. 1/2

Reference to a 1988 Daniel Dennett article 'Quining Qualia' wherein Dennett tried (unsuccessfully) to nip qualia at the bud.

Excellent summary . Gist is that theories from neuroscience about FND hypothesise some unexpected things about how the world is perceived... But they haven't been tested. We demonstrate one of these unexpected things in vision. It's not the answer but it's promising
